Aug. 5th, 2010 10:34 pmDay 01 - Best book you read last year: Fiction-wise, it was Melusine - Sarah Monette. Non-fiction it was Writer's Notebook (various, ed. Tinhouse). Melusine was a little lacking in sturdy characterization and fresh plot, but those were propped by completely awesome world building (I think I have a crush on her place names) and a wildly different take on the usual fantasy setting.
Writer's Notebook was snarky, fun meta which is rare in writing how-tos.

LOLYOUTUBE. Does anyone else remember this show? Soap opera about chicks in prison. I remember the old woman got sent to the clink for stealing butter; don't remember much else other than a heel chick set a face chick's hand in a big giant iron.
This can be filed under Reason #485749375 I'm glad the internet wasn't around much in the 80's. Can you imagine the songfics this thing would spawn?
