Dr. Maggie O'Neil fought to save lives in a world where men created laws governing women's health, and most looked down upon any woman who dared challenge them. Mr. Randolph Bentley III felt any woman who tried to force her way into a man's profession, and who refused to wear a corset, had to be of low moral fiber. But when Randolph injures his leg in a fencing accident, he finds the perfect prescription for what ails his body and soul in the sharp tongued and independent Dr. O'Neil.
Excerpt: Randolph Bentley III stirred when the cool, damp towel touched his hot flesh. His eyes opened slightly to take in an angel of mercy. My God, he thought as he gazed into eyes greener than a summer pasture and at hair blacker than the midnight sky. "I made it to heaven," he mumbled, dubiously thankful.
"I doubt that, sir," the angel said, bending to look at the cut on his leg. "I rather think you should enjoy a long life, and who knows if heaven is in your destiny."
The feminine voice aroused Randolph to full attention. His eyes popped open, and he burrowed a disapproving glare into what he now considered a fallen angel. "Who in hell are you?" he demanded.

Date: 2006-11-02 11:13 pm (UTC)1) A cutesy name for a professional ("Maggie" in place of "Margaret").
2) "Flesh" used to describe the outer layer of your body. Isn't flesh all the stuff -under- the skin?
Not to say that the rest is awesome, though...
