Happy post
Dec. 24th, 2009 10:04 amSears had all their Lands End stuff at 50% or more off. So I bought myself a new coat (needed one badly), scarf and mittens (didn't need those, just became smitten with the wee buttons on the mittens). So cute, blue coat, red scarf and mittens, and my red, white, and blue striped Giants hat. I was modeling them for Moe, and he said, "Now that's how you love America", and I said, "Take that, Toby Keith!"
My friend, Reggie, came through for me in the most sweet, delicious way. Work has been a Christmas cookie void, nary a sugar-coated crumb which means Moe and I had been sadly going without. Reggie gave me a huge plate of cookies left over from his job's cookie contest. In the center, was my favorite of trashy cookies: the green-dyed cornflakes shaped in wreathes, and decorated with cinnamon candies.
Also, we meet for lunch once a week at a chinese buffet, and when we went yesterday, the lady at the register gave us cards with a free meal coupon inside. For her "special guests", she said.
(funny aside: as I said, Reggie and I meet there pretty much once a week. One Saturday, Moe and I went there for lunch, and the cashier-lady was like *looks at me, looks at Moe-not-Reggie, looks at me again and shakes her head* Buffet-slut shaming, old lady style)
Merc's card made me crack up. The little story was awesome, and I do love continuing sagas. The best part, though, was the contrast between story and the picture on the card.
Back to a good place with my writing. I'm working on a story that's different from my usual stuff. I'm delighted that so far, even though it doesn't have a lot of the swearing and nastiness of my usual writing, that the story still feels very me. Sort of like, I've started a habit of shaping prose as a whole, rather than individual word choices. Time will tell if this is a good thing or another trip down Now-I-know-how-not-to-do-it road.
