Whatever.
It breaks my little wrestling fangirl heart to think that. The mystery of the McBastard is the kind of puzzle I love playing with. The answer’s there. I just have to figure it out. Total logic puzzle stuff—we know McMahon’s kid is a wrestler (so that eliminates announcers and interviewers); we know the kid is a son (so that eliminates the divas); we know (smarkily) that if Kennedy lost out due to Wellness violations then it’s likely all the other suspendees would be similarly out of the running; we “know” some wrestler’s fathers from having seen them in storylines/on TV: Cena’s, Orton’s, the Hardy’s, Except…
Except that WWE spits on its own canon time and time again. If Edge and Christian’s siblinghood was dropped, why should canon paternity get treated any more reverently? And that’s what’s hanging me up about this. Logic can’t be used because the “facts” will be rearranged to suit this week’s whims.
And combining noxiously with WWE penchant for canon wasting is their lame-o storytelling habits, and the way they strive to deny any sort of audience participation. I’m sure it will be ‘splained in the end, but right now, my gut reaction is saying that it’s more likely to be a hint along the lines of “It was the song playing when we made love and made our baby” rather than anything meaningful or valuable to anyone trying to play along.
The lack of chatter on the subject around the ‘net is telling. Granted, everyone is still yammering about the suspensions, the firings , and the rumored quittings, but, there should be some speculation. Smarks love to beat the WWE at its own game. Marks love storylines. Have fannish expectations been lowered beyond “bad” to “not gonna bother: WWE is going to do what suits them for the moment”?
