Most middle-aged post ever

Moe and I spent the afternoon shopping for drinking glasses. First stop was William Sonoma, which had a v.cute set but at $30 for 4, we were like, let's look elsewhere first. So after mocking the $300 toaster, we hit the mall. There aren't any housewares stores in the mall. Ok, then.

JCPenney's had seriously hideous glasses. I couldn't convince Moe to try Macy's. They have Martha Stewart's stuff! So, it was onto Pier One. Nothing good there either. All their glassware had too much going on: beads or neon stipes or scenes painted on them or giant blue elephants. No. Then we tried Home Goods, which is the tackiest store in the solar system.

We have no normal housejunk places-- Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, IKEA, etc. on this side of town so tomorrow we either travel across the river or we go to Target.

trashy homemaking recommendation!

Most of our glasses have been destroyed by Billy's tough love approach to dish washing. So whenever McDonald's gives away Coke glasses, we stock up. I think we have ten of them, at least.

Martha would not approve.

Somewhere between Pier One and Home Tacky Goods, we joked about waiting for Christmas and hitting Arby's for their goblet give-away. But, I figured Twig would go nuts if we had the same glassware pattern.

Housewares buying was much easier pre-another person in my life.

Do you happen to have a Cost Plus World Market in your area, perchance? That's where i purchased most of my dishes and towels and glasses at.

Closest one is Des Moines-- believe me I have Googled this

We used to! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. They all closed during the early part of the economic collapse. That's where the majority of the glasses we do have came from. And what sparked our cluelessness about where else to purchase fun, durable housewares for dirt cheap.

I miss the candy too.

Cost Plus is tied with Half Price as being my absolute favourite place to kill a few hours (and my bank account!).
