Any tips on writing a 9-minute novel?

I realized today that the timespan between me thinking OMG, I have an awesome idea! and then compiling mental lists of why the idea sucks/is unwritable/is beyond any skills I'll ever have is about 10 minutes.

A suggestion, which might not work, but why don't you right the mental list down and then go through them to see how you're going to get round them. Like for very silly example if you were trying to write a present tense Dr. Who story with Dr. Who no. 9, and your list said that you can't write present tense and you don't know how to write Nine. The get arounds would be you might write it in the past instead, and you'd watch the 9th Doctor episodes to try and get a better handle on the character.

I second [livejournal.com profile] redfiona99's idea, because the awesomeness of it just hit me like a ton of bricks. Must try with own writing.

I can sometimes manage a whole 24 hours or more before I start thinking an idea sucks and/or can't be written by someone with skills as mediocre as mine, but since I am not one of those writers who can bang out a fic in a day... well. It might as well be ten minutes, really.
