“Man, I hate these rinky-dink towns” Cade says as he pulls our rig into a ShopKo parking lot. He scowls at the two motels across the street: Lavern’s Oasis and Bertleson’s Motor-Inn.
“They ain’t gonna have computerized check-out. The diner won’t do egg-whites, and the god-damn gas station won’t take credit cards. Tell me I’m wrong on that.”
He doesn’t wait for my two cents. He goes on with his complaining, because that how he converses. I don’t mind listening to it. I like the way his muscles get all flexed when he’s worked himself into a state.
I also don’t mind small towns. Folks assume we bunk together to cut costs.
