25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
I go in streaks. When I began writing, I liked silence. I'd psych up myself beforehand with music, but while actually writing I liked quiet. I tend to write with music more often now. I blame the iPod, and the ease of making play lists.
26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
What haven't I researched! Most fun, for me, is heading to Mapquest. Usually I'm checking to see if a wrestlers could reasonably get from A to B during one drive. Because maps enchant me, I generally get caught up in all the little or no-so little towns they could pass through. Oh the stories that stay in my head...
27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer? Oddly, it's the Panera down the road. You think with my hatred of pants, that I'd dislike public spaces, but something about going somewhere to write makes me way more productive.
28 - Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic? Not in a meaningful or fulfilling way. Warning: there's really no way for me to say what I'm about to say without sounding like a bitchface, so bitchface I will be.
I've been approached to collaborate, and while that's flattering, there's the issue of the idea. Given my loud, crabby, snarky ways, given my unashamed barking about Fic I Like in my journal, given the types of fic I create on my own, I don't get why I'm the one people head to with their fluffy, light-hearted ideas. A re-telling of 10 Little Indians with the Disney princesses? THAT'S TOTES AN OPERA KINDA OF FIC. Shane Helms' car gets hit with lightening, and that makes Helms think he's actually a superhero but he flubbs it all time and needs someone to bail him out? YEAH, OPERA LOVES FIC ABOUT THE PROTAG GETTING RESCUED. How about an au fic in which everyone is LEET haxxors in New York? BECAUSE OPERA NEVER WRITES ABOUT WHITE TRASH AND GUTTER PUNKS IN SMALL TOWNS. So yeah, I'm a bitchy, picky ass who deserves literary snubbing.
