Mar. 6th, 2011 09:37 pmFinally finished Season 1 of Justified. Man, I love that show. The dialogue makes me swoon. Snarky without being omg~sarcastic zingers, laid-bare and vulnerable when the characters get honest with each other and themselves, in turns creepy and silly and terrifying and bitter in ways that are unique to each character.
I try not to Draco-in-leather-pants any villian, but Boyd-in-skinny-jeans tempts me. I mean, he firebombs churches, he cherishes his acts of arson, he walks the line between crazy and really fucking crazy, and it's only a matter of time before really fucking crazy draws him in. But, damn, that graveyard vigil/questioning God scene made me ache.
The setting has its claws in me. White trash in a small town, doing petty, methy crimes. Americana. VFWs full of drunk losers, junky hotel rooms with no amenities, stuff buried in backyards, guns and bad hairstyles.
I'm bummed that most of the Crowders are gone, and it's heading towards a seemingly yawnsville Miami Drug Lords scenario. I hope Season 2 proves me wrong. I was really digging the seedy underbelly of smalltowns vibe.
