I've been all meta-brained lately. Who knows, though, if I'll type up any of it. Winter, thy name is Snuggle Down in Blankets and Not Do Anything.
As I wanked about before, radio in the Twin Cities sucks. It's all Jack-ish-- no set format, a little of everything. Which seems like a wider way to format, but actually isn't. Instead of 16 channels of different formats sticking to their own little rules, it's 16 channels of middle-of-the-road garbage. NO MORE FUCKING EAGLES. Just, no. ALSO NO MORE NICKELBACK AND PHIL COLLINS.
So, my solution has been Avoid Radio. I gots an iPod; I gots a huge cd collection: I gots friends to burn stuff; I gots an internetz full of files. Except, that solutions destroys one of my favorite things about music: serendipty.
There are no unexpected treasures, only re-hashes and shoe-ins. There is no stumbling upon a totally Not Me song, and loving it or having it work for a story I'm writing, or inspiring me in a way I don't normally get inspired. I miss seredipity.
