opera142: (this shit is bananas)
About that writing class I took last week. Awesome as earlier reported. The focus was on evoking emotion through details. The instructor won my heart by suggesting we make lists of all the possible details (for a setting, character, whatever is being described). I love making lists so I was on aboard. Then, we circled the details we liked best from our lists, and she pointed out that those details likely came from the middle to bottom of the list. The point being, it takes a bit to clear the crud and cliches from your thinking. Listing and rejecting common, bland, cliche'd stuff gets you to the fresher, unique stuff. Basically, good details take time and effort.

What a relief to hear that. I get on myself so much about being a slow writing, how it takes me days to happen onto the right word, the fresh detail, the interesting way to point out something mundane. The whole notion put me in a good frame of mind for writing. Ahhhhhh.

Onto the fruit thing. I had a couple of bing! realizations about that issue.

a)I'm not leaning out like an athlete so why can't a serving of fruit come from juice? I drink the 100% fruit stuff, and I keep it to the 6 to 8 oz serving size. Other than no fiber and the sugar rush, juice can't be much worse than the bland, out-of-season fresh stuff.

b)Tomatoes are fruit. And while the fresh ones are pitiful right now, canned ones are cheap, and v. tasty when added to sauces.

c)screw it. I'll make up the difference with veggies. If I do two fruit and 8 veggies, my nutrition won't suffer.

Someone brought a 5 POUND Hersey Bar into work yesterday. My co-workers SWARMED that bad boy. The slab was GONE by the end of the day. I helped! Then, shamefully, we calculated the calories-- numbers nerds we are- almost 15,000. Enough calories to fuel a very athletic man for a week. Ooof.

I cannot figure out what M. Hardy's wrist tape says. I pause and pause and pause TiVo, and it always stops on a blurry image. The Precious is trying to send secret messages, and I can't figure them out.

His latest post made my imagination spazz out. Blatant sucking up to Taker. Ha, bullied into it totally. otherwise it's the belt *wigglepants*

And, the spazzing was way more fun than the eye twitching and intelligence melting his drunken monographs usually cause.
