Jake G. and Robert D. don't hump ever. Nor do the hotty detective and the guy from Revenge of the Nerds.
Other than that, good flick. Not really from the horror standpoint, though. More from Look-At-How-Red-Tape-Mucks-Up-Everything angle, or a Man, Police Work Pre-Technology Was A Pain. The Different Police Departments had to snail mail each other stuff because some of them didn't have fax machines.
Or possibily, I liked it from a writing-meta angle. This film exceled at making the bureaucratic and the mundane interesting. It found humor and snark in unlikely moments. It showed how emotions, especially frustration can snowball. I'm into that kind of stuff; I can see how someone might consider the movie slow or boring.
The dialogue was realistic, especially with the snark. There were funny jabs here and there, but they weren't those cheesy action-flick one-liners. It was stuff people actually say when annoyed or feeling mockity-mockish.
I haven't seen many reviews-- I tend to read reviews after I see movies, rather than before-- so I'm wondering if the pay-off factor is affecting viewers' enjoyment. Technically, there isn't one. Zodiac is never caught, and there's a group of suspects so there really isn't even an It's That Guy! I Can Feel It feeling. People like stories to have satisfying endings, and this one can't quite deliver.
