SD: Daivari wrestled for the cruiser strap! Unexpected precious homecoming. It came close to making up for M. Hardy's jobberation of Joey Mercury.
Wanna-be meta: Do you care when your favorites lose?
For me, lots of times it depends on who they're wrestling. If they're going against a sack of duh like the Boogeyman, I get in a snit. If they're wrestling one of Vince's Preciouses, then I'm happy when it's not a squash. Equal against Equal, I usually don't care unless it was a screwy match or something dumb happened.
Because most of my favorites live in the mid-card I expect them to lose. With the exception of Jericho, Trish, and Angle, I've never been drawn to the Golden Boys. Guys like AJ Styles or Shawn Michaels. I enjoy watching them and it's not that I don't think they're good or entertaining or whatever. It's an issue of being too good. I can't get attached to their dramas when there's such an inevitability of them winning.
I love the underdog, the screw-over guy. I love the heartache of losing after trying so hard, doing so much. I love characters who's potential is ignored, who are forced to play second fiddle to a golden boy. I adored Christian over Edge, M. Hardy over Jeff. Kane over the Undertaker. Shelley over Starr. Eddie, Benoit and Jericho over HHH, HBK and Randy Orton.
So losing, I guess, keeps me more attached to a character than winning.
