Why is it so hard to find decent fantasy novels?
Does every single one of them need to be about:
a)a 15yo girl who has magic, is all about nature, and has to save her land from the zjj'vk horde.
b)a 15yo boy who has a teeny bit of magic, is jealous because all his friends have more, but in the course of saving his land from the zjj'vk horde discovers he has much greater powers than anyone thought.
c) People with unreadable names living in unpronouncable places compelled by prophency to slay the Beast With No Vowels.
d) Hott vampire chick with mind-reading abilities who has to save the world. Characters in this book will be named Gabriel, Sebastian, Tigra, and Chandra.
This weekend, I rooted through the fantasy section of B&N. I must have picked up and put back 20 books. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
I think I'm going to have to write a good book myself. Of course, then it won't be any fun for me to read.
